I agree with Rahja. I don't see why Anet shouldn't be able to make some money out of this.
I have no problem with it either, always as long as it doesnt affect the balance of one player over another.

I am actually hoping for a BMP actually as it feels like something concrete for your money (silly term when used about a game I know - but you hopefully get the idea I meant). That reminds me, I need to go and do the first BMP sometime.......

That seemed random, I'm actually glad I just finished vanquishing prophecies two days ago But they said it'll be fixed by Monday so its not a horribly big deal.

Hopefully they do it like the Bonus Mission Pack and keep the price tag at 10$ or less.

i dont mind anet making money. but if all they care about is money then thats a problem. thats like me setting up a lemonaid stand and if i only charged for the lemonaid you wouldnt care if i made money. but i bet if i also charged you for the cup, ice, service and other odds and ends you wouldnt be happy i bet. and i vanqed that area a long time ago so i dont mind them waiting to fix it.

yeah but if everyone bought their lemonade 3-5 years ago, you have no more money to maintain your lemonade stand...

Not quite accurate.
The only reason you set up the lemonade stand is to make money; that's all you care about.
Everything else (desire for good service, good quality product etc) derives from that.

ok so to clarify my point..I don't mind anet making money...it's their right to do so...
My issue comes when they don't want the TK to test an update because to those few TK member the whole obey/dismantle campaign will loose its luster and they'll be less likely to buy whatever the micro may be...So they sacrifice what otherwise would have been a quality update for a few more sales...I truthfully would rather see quality updates and quite frankly would be more willing to give them what little spare money I have. I love Guild Wars but until I feel like they deserve my money they won't be getting much of it...

I think you are going about your business wrong, you should calculate all your costs through to your product else you cant determain if you are actually making money or are at a loss ... so i would suggest you read up on economy before ever starting a lemonade stand ...

I mean would you really pay 14 a month for your WoW if they were doing real updates every 6 months and each seemed to have a major flaw? while I know flaws are inevitable things like this are quite honestly rather obvious... not hard to check...So even if I had money it'd have to be something I wanted :\

Edit: they're a business...let them make money...it should be their goal to do soo

LOL. Clearly you don't play WoW. Patches come out about every 3-6 months, and patch days are... well... how do I put this without swearing... Does that help?

It wasn't a waste. I had a great time playing WoW, I just don't have the time to devote to it atm, and I'm honestly not that interested in the current content (Icecrown). Game updates have glitches, get used to it. As long as they are fixed within a timely manner, it's no big deal.

EDIT: Nope, not playing Guild Wars. (Minus Test Krewe stuff)

No problem with glitches so long as they aren't oozing open sores on the face of the update...

AS I said I'd rather have them have them ask a few of the TK people to take a look at it even if it meant they lost a small small percentage of sales of their next micro...as to me it would seem like things like this make people less likely to hand over their money...

and your right...I don't play wow...I tried it out on that server you recommended and just couldn't see myself putting enough time into it to make it worth the money for me :\ now that I know updates are less often then I thought it reinforces my decision xD

I have this strange feeling that a lot of people aren't going to Vanquish Talmark this weekend... might just be a hunch.. but, my hunches are usually pretty decent.

to all those who thought my lemonaid stand example was wrong was excuse me. but didnt gw survive up the 4th content without micro transaction? i mean they made money or else how do you explain them lasting so long? and yeah some people wanted to vanq that spot. one i know was gl. she wanted to vanq it for her title. and from all these updates i can see micro transaction didnt nothing to help gw except make money. cause from what i seen the name/makeup/sex/costumes are nothing but looks. xD

Okay, took a character who had completed EotN but not Prophecies out to Talmark and found the Shining Blade camp.

Does that mean you are on the test crew but not playing Guild Wars on at least a semi-regular basis?

True, which is why they are all optional. Others such as storage upgrade, weapons/shields from BMP are nice but completely unnecessary to play the game. If Anet wants/is able to make money with them, more power to them.

I've personally bought a couple extra character slots, couple storage slots, the BMP I got for free cause I ordered EotN through the online store during their promotion - probably would of bought it though. However, I do not buy cosmetic changes such as costumes or makeovers. Nor do I buy any pet/skill unlocks as unlocking all skills, weapon/shield mods, and runes is very easy through pvp. And pets are easy enough to find/tame/level up to be dire/hearty/elder/whatever.

So if this update has "purchasable" content then I'll buy or not buy based on whether it is "tangible" (I know its all 1's and 0's) or cosmetic.

Yes, yes it does. I happen to be one of the oldest players in the game, with a deep understanding of the mathematics and mechanics, and a very keen mind. I don't appreciate you even hinting at a suggestion that I am unable to do my duty as a TK member because I don't farm crap or GvG on a regular basis. It's pretty easy to ask what meta builds are, see the FotM, and see what problem skills are in specific areas.

We are working on something right now that I have wanted changed in the game for 4+ years, and I am going to be all over it in feedback and testing, making sure the changes that I know are needed are voiced and hopefully made. The changes happen to be on centered around what I would consider my Guild Wars specialty, and I will not stand for you even questioning my intelligence in understanding this game. How dare you?
